My travelogue: Los Angeles!

My, my, my. It is a wonderful thing when work and pleasure collide into one great mashup adventure! That is exactly what happened for my husband and I on his conference trip to L.A.

Our adventures started with a non-stop flight from Reagan National to LAX. It was a very smooth flight (I thank the Lord for that!) , and we landed 5 hours later. I was very happy to touch down, as well as to have 3 extra hours back into our schedule.

After retrieving our luggage and renting a vehicle, we were off in 80 degree weather to find our hotel. After first arriving at the wrong hotel by GPS (?), we got to the right spot, and were quite amazed. This hotel was smack dab in the hub of L.A., and I had straight on view of the Staples Center from our 12th story window!

The next couple of days we had some time built in to visit such well know places as Hollywood Boulevard, Beverly Hills, and Rodeo Drive. Being the East Coast Disney World fans that we are, we had to make a visit to Disneyland, courtesy of birthday present from my mom in law :-) We also took a warm breezy drive to the Santa Monica Pier and enjoyed a throwback to the days of boardwalks and seaside attractions.

In addition, the fun came to our hotel! We were walking to lunch one day, we happened upon the Hollywood premier of the Hunger Games on the side of the Marriott. I snapped photos of limos arriving, fans lining the walkway, and entertainment correspondents poised for interviews. Two days after that, filming for NCIS Los Angeles came to the same spot, and I got pics of LLCoolJ, Daniel Dae Kim, and the filming for the NCIS/Hawaii 5-0 mashup. What a week!

All in all, my husband and I had an amazing hotel stay. The staff at the JW Marriott was friendly and attentive, and the accommodations we out of sight. The people and stars of L.A. were kind, and the experiences we had were priceless. We had a great plane trip back, and we look forward to our next visit;-)

Next up: our visit to Disneyland!
