Wait a minute. Hold on...I have to put up with the shortcomings of others??
Yep. Its in the Bible. Its hard to do sometimes, but we as disciples of Christ are called to bear with each other, to give room for making mistakes. The Word says it this way:
Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. (Colossians 3:13 NLT)
Wow! We are to make allowance for others' shortcomings. God knows that we are growing and changing, and He wants us to walk this attitude out with those around us. What a gift to give our neighbors...the gift of grace and space!
Isn't that what you want for yourself from those around you? We want others to give us a moment, to give us room to grow, for sure. No one wants to be held to such a rigid standard that we can make no errors in this growth process.
God causes us to realize that as He is doing for us (He gives us that grace and space all the time), so we should do to others. He forgives us, and THEN gives us room to grow up in Him and learn His ways. How much more should we follow in His model and extend that grace to others?
As we grow in grace and the knowledge of Christ, we will begin to understand just how deep and abundant His grace is. Then, it becomes easier to walk in this scripture to others, because we see the grace and space He gives us everyday as we grow up. Receive God's love and grace for your own life, and give that room to others. That is the grace that changes lives!
Allow God to change a life through you,
Dee
