eBook Review: Use What You Know: A Business Idea Guide for Moms

As a home educator of three for more than 11 years, I have often entertained the thought of having my own business at home. My only struggle was in figuring out what exactly I wanted to do, what I would be best equipped to do. Many a time, I have felt slightly defeated in my mind and have dropped the idea entirely. Yet, for some reason, I revisit the concept often.

Enter Joyce Brewer. Joyce is an Emmy award-winning TV journalist who parlayed her skills into a self-produced online show, The Mommy Talk Show, after she and her husband had their son, AJ.  She then wrote her eBook, Use What You Know: A Business Idea Guide for Moms,  to share her journey and expertise in getting her business started, with hopes of encouraging each reader that they have a skill that they can turn into a business. Joyce and I connected by way of Twitter, and, knowing that I am a mom as well, she put her eBook in my hand so that I could read it, see what I thought, and maybe get the word out on it even more.

I am so very grateful that she did.

In a nutshell, this book helps to see your dream of having a business as something very attainable and tangible, and she gives practical steps to live your dream. I enjoyed reading it, and here is why:

This book revives hope. Use What You Know: A Business Idea Guide for Moms got me thinking....thinking about ideas I have had and thinking that it might not be as difficult to get started as I had once thought. I feel hopeful that I can really have a business of my own that flows with my family and their needs as well!

Joyce incorporates the voices of other successful women to help you get there.  She not only shares her journey, but she takes the time to interview 5 other women who have been successful at turning their skills into businesses that are working well for them. She and her guests all share their good steps as well as their missteps, making themselves vulnerable and their suggestions believable.

It is an easy and concise read with a wealth of information. Yes, this eBook is only 45 pages front to back. In that short space, I learned about Joyce, her background, and her desire to be closer to home while earning a living doing something she loves. I also learned how to revive my dream, how to hone in my focus, and practical steps to bring it to fruition in some unconventional ways. She offers low-cost startup suggestions (you might be surprised as to how little it costs to get things going!)

I highly encourage you to get a hold of Joyce Brewer's book, Use What You Know: A Business Idea Guide for Moms. Dreams and desires are important and part of our God-given purpose on this earth. Why not take steps to make them happen, and earn a living in the process?

Here's to your success,

Dee
